Radiesse® in Detroit, MI
Topical over-the-counter skin products simply cannot prevent aging. Fine lines, wrinkles, and creases are inevitable. If you’ve tried these remedies and are still unhappy with the appearance of your skin, the injectable dermal filler Radiesse® may be right for you. This non-surgical treatment increases collagen production to diminish severe creases, folds, and wrinkles. Birmingham Plastic Surgery, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Ahmet R. Karaca, M.D., offers Radiesse® for men and women who live in and around Detroit, Farmington Hills and the surrounding communities of Michigan.
What is Radiesse®?
Reverse the signs of aging in just minutes with the injectable dermal filler Radiesse®. Radiesse® will smooth out the surface of the skin on your face by reducing the appearance of lines, folds, wrinkles and creases. In just one short procedure you can look years younger.
Calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a soft gel solution is what makes up Radiesse®, previously known as Radiance®. It is effective in restoring facial volume. Injected under the skin’s surface, Radiesse® serves as a support structure for the skin. Folds and wrinkles are smoothed away, and your body’s collagen production is stimulated. This effect lasts for months, helping to extend the initial benefit of treatment. Eventually, the gel is absorbed, and the CaHA microspheres are metabolized, leaving your own body’s collagen behind.
Results from Radiesse® injections typically last one year, but can last up to three years depending on the severity of the treated area. Currently, it’s the only filler that immediately restores volume and simultaneously stimulates collagen production.
Radiesse® can diminish the following signs of aging:
- Lines running from the corner of the nose to the mouth (Smile lines)
- Lines running from the corner of the mouth downwards (Marionette lines)
- Creases or folds in the corners of the mouth that turn downward creating the appearance of a frown
- Sagging skin on the sides of the chin due to lost volume (Pre-jowls)
- Horizontal chin wrinkles
To diminish wrinkles in areas around the eyes and lips, please consider using other dermal fillers. Radiesse® is not approved to treat these areas.
Benefits of Radiesse®

Benefits include:
- Quick, painless treatment
- Instant improvement to skin’s appearance, with additional gradual improvements for up to three months
- Effective up to two years
- Chances for negative or allergic reactions are low because Radiesse® mimics natural processes
- Contains calcium hydroxyapatite, naturally found in healthy skin
- Downtime or recovery not needed
Are You A Candidate For Radiesse®?
Men and women who want a natural looking, long-lasting, minimally invasive treatment for facial wrinkles and folds may be a candidate for Radiesse® injections. There is no magic age for this treatment. People with severe allergies and hypersensitivity to anything in the Radiesse® solution may not be qualified candidates for treatment even though there is virtually no risk for allergic reaction. Calcium hydroxyapatite is naturally found in the body, which helps to minimize the risk of adverse reaction.
The Radiesse® Treatment
Like other dermal fillers, Radiesse® is a procedure that can be performed very rapidly, typically in less than 15 minutes. Because the solution contains lidocaine, a local anesthetic, Radiesse® injections are virtually pain-free for most clients.
Patients will be able to see immediate results, with continued improvement as collagen production is stimulated. Depending on a variety of factors, each patient’s natural-looking results will last for a year or more.
Normal activities may be resumed immediately after treatment. Temporary side effects may include mild swelling, redness, bruising and/or tenderness at the site of injection. These effects should clear up within a few days. Avoiding medicines that can prolong bleeding, such as aspirin and vitamin E, is advised to reduce the chance of bruising.
