Kybella in Detroit, MI

Birmingham Plastic Surgery, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Ahmet R. Karaca, M.D., offers Kybella® for men and women who live in and around Detroit, Farmington Hills and the surrounding communities of Michigan who are looking to eliminate the fat underneath their chin that causes the dreaded “double chin”.

What is Kybella®? How does it work?

Using deoxycholic acid, the synthetic form of a naturally-occurring substance in the body, Kybella® injections are an FDA-approved treatment for reducing fat cells at the injection site, allowing you to enhance your appearance and the upper neck. Kybella® minimizes the appearance of fat that results in a double chin and further prevents the area from storing additional fat cells.

Why choose Kybella®?

A double chin is difficult to get rid of through diet and exercise and with age, it can become more pronounced. For many, this causes great insecurity. Surgical options such as liposuction are too pricey, painful and require lengthy recovery time. If you are seeking to improve the appearance of your chin and upper neck without the hassle of surgery, Kybella® may be right for you.

Minimal recovery is required with Kybella® injections. The appearance and profile you desire, free of a double chin, is possible. Kybella® non-surgical injections can remove excess chin and upper neck fat to help improve your appearance!

How many treatments are required? What should I expect?

Kybella® treatments vary with each patient based on their unique goals and the severity of fat cells underneath the chin. The exact course of treatment will be assessed in your consultation with Dr. Karaca. Typically a patient averages between 12 and 20 Kybella® injections; however, some have required as many as 50 injections.

On average, treatment will last approximately 15 minutes, and significant results can be expected after a few sessions. No extended stay or overnight visits are required for Kybella®. Once you have achieved your desired look, additional treatments are not necessary, and the fat does not return. Certified nurse injectors can help you to assess the correct number of treatments needed for you desired appearance.

Kybella® isn’t approved for sagging skin, but will it still help?

Though some clinical trial participants reported a tightening effect in the treated area, Kybella® is specifically designed to melt away fat on the upper neck and chin. It is not meant to improve the appearance of sagging skin.

Can Kybella® melt fat from other parts of the body?

Currently Kybella® is not approved for use in treating excess fat in other areas of the body. It is approved for the chin area and is highly effective at providing patients with the results they desire.
