The breast reduction procedure with the limited/small vertical closure is the latest of improvements for this very important operation. The scar is around the areola and then runs from the bottom of the areola to the inframammary fold. The concept of using only a vertical incision and all but eliminating the horizontal scars that run in the breast folds has been around for a while but has been revised and much improved in the last several years. There are an increasing number of plastic surgeons in the country that are adopting this method.
The procedure is ideal for the D to EE cup size breasts. The much larger breasts might still need to be done with the standard inverted anchor shaped closure.
