Rhinoplasty Surgeon (Nose
Enhancement, Augmentation & Reduction) Birmingham, MI, Troy, MI, Bloomfield, Hills, MI, Farmington Hills, Michigan

Rhinoplasty can take up to a year to see the final result because the nose settles and takes shape during this time. You will see Dr. Karaca multiple times during the first year after your surgery. If there are any internal structural problems such as a septal deviation or hypertrophy of the turbinates that create obstruction, those are taken care of at the same time.

Rhinoplasty candidates should beat least in their mid teens (14 to 15 for girls and 16 to 17 for boys). At these ages, the nasal bone has matured and the shape of the nose has stabilized. A very common time for these surgeries seems to be between high school and college years. Generally regarded as the most difficult of all cosmetic procedures to perform well, there are only a few experts who truly specialize in rhinoplasty in the country. Dr. Karaca is particularly qualified to perform rhinoplasty surgery because of his board certification in plastic surgery.

The most important point is to end up with a very natural result to be admired, a result that does not look like a nose job. The appearance should prompt positive responses from the others on the attractiveness of the whole rather than the nose itself. Software is available to try to create and show patients what results are expected after surgery. Rhinoplasty (the procedure commonly called a nose job) is among the most common plastic surgery procedures performed. A nose that is out of balance, crooked, or too large will draw emphasis away from the eyes and become a focal point of the face. The cosmetic goal in rhinoplasty is to allow the nose to blend naturally with the rest of the facial features and be unnoticeable. Turned up, scooped out noses, which were popular a generation ago, are no longer desired. Today's attractive nose is fuller, stronger, and more elegant. Looking to as many pictures as possible prior to surgery is very helpful.

The surgery begins by making incisions inside the nostril and creating a space between the bone and the skin. One then proceeds to lowering the profile and reducing the overall size of the nasal pyramid. There are no external scars except when the nostrils are reduced in size.

The nose is unique in that it also serves a very important function: it helps you to breathe. Too often, this is neglected by the surgeon who performs only the occasional rhinoplasty. Frequently, patients undergoing rhinoplasty also have difficulty breathing. If you have this problem or have nasal allergies, you may be a candidate for a functional rhinoplasty. At the time of your visit, Dr. Karaca can discuss this with you in detail. In some situations, your insurance carrier may provide benefits for the medical portion of the procedure. The cost for the cosmetic portion, however, will not be covered. Rhinoplasty surgery can take anywhere from one to four hours. Each patient is different and Dr. Karaca will discuss your surgery with you during your consultation. Dr. Karaca utilizes a gentle sculpting technique which means there is no significant bruising and swelling following surgery. Following the procedure there is very little to no discomfort; however, most people take a week off to recover while a splint stays in place. It is important that you refrain from heavy exercise for at least two weeks following surgery.

Risks are bleeding, infection, scarring and possibility of secondary surgeries due to irregularities. In the best of hands, Rhinoplasty has a 10% rate of revision. Surgery of the nose is technically the most difficult plastic surgery procedure to master, therefore it would behoove you to ask a lot of questions about the results of any particular surgeon.

There is a non surgical nose job also and that is done by using injectable fillers such as Radiesse to smooth out the profile. While this procedure has limitations, it can be much more affordable than the standard rhinoplasty.
