One can see extensive relaxation of the upper arms extending all the way to the elbow, as a result of weight loss or weight fluctuations. The arm lift is performed with a vertical scar on the inner/lower aspect of the upper arm in such a fashion that the scar is hidden from view when the arms are on the sides. The scar takes about two years to fade. The overall thinning of the arms and the return to a normal appearance makes this operation a most exciting one, as long as one accepts the scar. There is some swelling and minimal pain after this operation. One can be expected to be back to work in three weeks.
